Former Disney executive Dave Hollis died Saturday night at his home in Austin, Texas. He was the company’s president of worldwide distribution until he quit in 2018.
What was the cause of Dave Hollis death?
Hollis was recently hospitalized for problems with their heart, but the exact cause of their death is still unknown.
Career
After Chuck Viane retired in 2011, Hollis took over as Disney’s head of theatrical distribution. During his time there, the studio had some of its biggest box office hits, including movies from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and Pixar, as well as remakes of old animated classics and new animated features.
Hollis’s decision to leave Disney in 2018 came as a surprise, given how much had been accomplished under his leadership. He was respected in the business world, and Disney liked how friendly and approachable he was. After he left the studio and moved out of California, Hollis became the CEO of Chic Media, a production company in Texas that was started by his then-wife, Rachel Hollis. Since then, the couple has split up.
Hollis was not just an executive, but also a podcast host and author. Two of his books, “Get Out of Your Own Way: A Skeptic’s Guide to Growth and Fulfillment” and “Built Through Courage: Face Your Fears to Live the Life You Were Meant for,” were both based on his podcast, “Rise Together.” A children’s picture book titled “Here’s to Your Dreams!: A Teatime with Noah Book” was written by him as well.
