Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe known by his stage name as Lil Tecca is an American rapper, songwriter and singer who was born on August 26, 2002 in Queens, New York City. He was born to a Jamaican couple who immigrated to the US before he was born. His father was a singer himself but gave it up later to pursue another endeavor. He grew up in Springfield Gardens, Queens but moved to Nassau County, Long Island when he was just in the 7th Grade. Growing up, he had the passion of playing basketball and making it to the NBA but when he realized his chances were slim, he gave up his NBA dream in exchange for a microphone at a tender age of 12. He is a big fan of the Milwaukee Bucks. He is currently signed to Galactic and Republic Records.

Lil Tecca who juggled music and basketball was also an avid gamer who loved playing video games on his Xbox. Little did he know that his Xbox console would be the stepping stone into his music career. When he was nine, he started making freestyle diss tracks towards his friends over his mic on Xbox. His friends commended his flows and urged him to take music seriously but Tecca, who at that time had high hopes of being in the NBA, rubbished their suggestions. Three years later when he was 12 years old, he deserted his dream of wanting to be in the NBA and started considering a career in music.
Following his eagerness to pursue music, he started recording songs using his sister’s computer and made a couple of tracks. However, his first song to make it to the limelight was released in 2017. The track was titled “Tectri” and he collaborated with a friend and another aspiring rapper, Lil Gummybear. This track paved a way for him and in 2018, he released his breakthrough and most popular song “Ransom”. The song received so much traction that it peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also garnered over a billion plays on Spotify. On May 22, 2019, he uploaded the accompanying music video to Cole Bennett’s YouTube channel. The video currently has over 440 million views on YouTube. That same year on August 30th, he released his first mixtape “We Love You Tecca”. 2020 saw him releasing his debut studio album “Virgo World” which he released on September 18th. The album featured 19 songs which include Foreign, True To The Game, Out Of Love among others and featured notable rappers like Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Durk and Polo G.

In 2022, Tecca had a lot of projects in the pipeline and had his full focus working on it. However, he did a song with British singer Mabel entitled “Let Love Go” and also released a couple others of his own such as “Faster”
In 2023, he has released a couple of singles such as Dead or Alive, Yves, HVN ON EARTH which he featured rapper Kodak Black and is also a single from his third studio album “TEC” which was released on September 22nd.
