Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud offers backup and recovery of Google Workspace workloads such as Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, and Calendar. Managed Service Providers can centrally manage protection of multiple customer environments from the Acronis management console.
Point-in-time recovery and item-level restores are supported, allowing service providers to recover from accidental deletions or security incidents. Backup data can be encrypted and written to immutable storage using Object Lock to help protect against ransomware. Backup can be quickly deployed to new tenants, and optionally stored in Acronis managed cloud storage with unlimited capacity.
Key Limitations
Some operational considerations should be kept in mind when using Acronis to perform Google Workspace backup for MSPs. Licensing can be more complicated than other solutions and usually requires longer-term contracts. This can limit the flexibility of service providers that frequently onboard and offboard customers, or who require predictable monthly billing.
Similarly, cost predictability can be difficult depending on your storage needs. While you can use Acronis hosted storage, integrating with a third-party cloud storage solution requires installing Acronis Backup Gateway. This may require additional infrastructure to manage and could create additional operational complexity for MSPs at scale.
MSP360 Backup for Google Workspace
MSP360 Backup for Google Workspace is a cloud-to-cloud backup solution created for businesses and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) looking to protect Google Workspace workloads like Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Drives, Contacts, and Calendar. MSP360 SaaS backup solution is designed with flexibility in storage options, multi-domain management with a dedicated console, and a cost-effective pricing policy for MSPs.
Key Features
Automated backup and recovery of all Google Workspace as well as Microsoft 365 components within the MSP360 management console. BYOC support – MSPs can specify where to store backups utilizing top-tier public cloud storage solutions, including Amazon S3, Wasabi, or Backblaze B2. MSP360 performs automated backups up to 3 times per day, helping MSPs maintain frequent recovery points for their customer environments.
The solution does not require any local infrastructure and offers advanced security and compliance capabilities, including encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA) support during the recovery process, role-based access control (RBAC), Object Lock for Immutable Storage, and comprehensive reporting with granular audit logs.
Key Limitations
The platform has several disadvantages focused around its integrations and metadata. There is currently less metadata available for Shared Drives compared to some of its competition. External integrations also do not span much outside of the MSP product ecosystem. Finally, the service is strictly a cloud-to-cloud solution. If your MSP requires local or hybrid backup deployments for any reason, this will not meet your needs.
NinjaOne (Dropsuite)
NinjaOne – SaaS Protection by Dropsuite provides c2c backup for Google Workspace. Many Managed Service Providers use NinjaOne to offer backup and quick recovery as a service for their clients who use Google Workspace.
Key Features
NinjaOne SaaS has item-level restores and point-in-time recovery. MSPs can deploy protection to new tenants in minutes and centrally manage multiple customers from the NinjaOne platform.
Encryption, immutable storage with Object Lock, and simple backup policies enable MSPs to standardize protection for all their customers. The platform integrates with the rest of the NinjaOne ecosystem so service providers can manage SaaS protection alongside other IT monitoring and security tools natively in one environment.
Key Limitations
Users highlight that restore times can vary by environment and may be slow for large restores, impacting RTOs during a recovery situation.
NinjaOne SaaS Protection employs its own vendor-managed storage, which could result in vendor lock-in for MSPs. Higher switching complexity may be encountered when attempting to move data to a new platform. Some users have noted user experience inconsistencies between modules in the NinjaOne suite.
Spanning Backup
Spanning Backup for Google Workspace is trusted by Managed Service Providers across their Kaseya ecosystem and offers cloud-to-cloud backup for Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Drives, Contacts, and Calendar. Spanning Backup helps SaaS MSPs deliver reliable backup with minimal management overhead, easy setup, and maintenance.

Search and filters are built well into the platform to easily find your organization’s backup data. Integration with Kaseya lets MSPs sync backup management with other service management workflows.
Key Limitations
Spanning also stores backups on Datto-controlled storage in the cloud, meaning MSPs can’t use their own storage (BYOS). This can lead to vendor lock-in and less flexibility when managing backup storage.
Spanning may require additional management as license increases or decreases typically require manual adjustments. Additionally, pricing may change as your contract continues. Some users mark that response times from Support can vary.
Backupify Google Workspace Backup
Backupify for Google Workspace is a backup solution originally acquired by Datto in 2014 and now part of the Kaseya ecosystem since 2022. The platform is widely used by Managed Service Providers delivering SaaS data protection services across multiple customer environments.
Key Features
Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can provision protection across multiple customer environments through a multi-tenant management portal. SysCloud
SysCloud provides Google Workspace backup for education and compliance-driven organizations, adding visibility and control around governance, monitoring, and security. Protecting Google Workspace apps, SysCloud also offers insight into user activity and data usage within these systems. As such, MSPs can use SysCloud as a backup platform with built-in monitoring and security, or as a compliance-oriented monitoring platform across multiple customer environments.

Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can enforce custom retention policies, manage protection across client workloads, and utilize extensive reporting, audit logs, and activity awareness to ensure clients are using data appropriately. SysCloud also performs automated backups 3 times per day, helping MSPs maintain more frequent recovery points for customer environments.
The platform detects ransomware attacks, provides real-time alerts for active threats, and monitors Google Workspace for compliance violations so service providers can offer backup, security, and governance all from one solution.
Key Limitations
Due to larger scan times, restore speeds and initial backups can take longer in bigger environments. This may increase the time needed for onboarding new customers and impact restoration windows. SysCloud’s pricing model is complex. Backup versions are also retained for a shorter duration than some alternatives.
BDRShield for Google Workspace
BDRShield for Google Workspace is part of Vembu’s broader backup and disaster recovery platform, extending its data protection capabilities to SaaS workloads. The solution protects Google Workspace services while integrating with Vembu’s unified backup management infrastructure. Key Limitations
Backup storage is tied to Keepit’s managed cloud storage platform, as they do not offer a Bring Your Own Cloud option. This may present some flexibility concerns if your MSP prefers to have more control over backup storage. Licensing can be complicated when used in multi-tenant service scenarios.
Druva Google Workspace cloud backup
Druva Google Workspace Backup is sold as part of a larger platform called Druva Data Resiliency Cloud, which provides Backup-as-a-Service capabilities for GW workloads.
Backup Infrastructure as a Service – Druva’s backup platform is offered as a fully managed service where Druva operates and manages the backup infrastructure and storage. Druva is built with the idea of providing MSPs operational simplicity so they can reduce management complexity. Backups are automatically handled by Druva, and multiple customers can be added to easily expand protection with very little configuration needed.
Key Limitations
Druva’s backup solution only supports Druva-managed cloud storage. There is no option for MSPs to provide their own storage. Druva requires a committed license fee, which is common among cloud vendors but can lead some MSPs to strive for transparent pay-as-you-go options.
