Loving yourself is not always easy, but it should be. Because who do we have to spend the most time with? Exactly: with ourselves. Self-love is one of the most important prerequisites for a contented, happy, and well-rounded life. Want to take a dance class? Or play online casino? Fulfill your desires. We will show you which tips you can use to love yourself more. Because self-love is also something you can train yourself to do. Don’t you think so? Then read on. We’ll tell you the best tips on how to learn to love yourself.

WHAT IS SELF-LOVE

From a young age, we learn that everyone is valuable. It’s sad that we often take this to heart towards those around us, but treat ourselves with little respect. People who love themselves accept themselves all-embracingly.

Self-love means to accept yourself with all your facets as you are – without judgment and especially without criticism. It is the unrestricted love for yourself; a clear, unconditional “yes” to you as a whole with all your supposed weaknesses and faults.

Self-love includes everything that makes you: your personality, your behavior, and your body.  People who love themselves often go through life more satisfied and have a greater emotional sensitivity. They are better able to deal with their fellow human beings and show more empathy.

SCIENCE OF LOVING YOURSELF

Unlike emotions like fear or anger, self-love and self-confidence are attitudes and therefore less intuitive. This means that we can learn self-love. However, it also means that self-love is something that doesn’t come naturally to us, but something we have to do something for. The road to self-acceptance can be hard, but it is worth it.

BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LIFE

First of all, you must realize that it is your responsibility how you shape your life and how you want to feel. You are in control of the people you surround yourself with, how you talk to yourself, and react to things that happen in your life. You alone are responsible for your feelings and thoughts, your actions, and your entire life. Isn’t it fantastic that we can create our own lives the way we want them to be? You can also visit therapy to work on your negative statements and mindset.

ACCEPT YOURSELF

Learn to accept yourself unconditionally little by little and don’t give your inner critic any attack surface. Whenever he tries to speak up, you can inwardly repeat the following mantra: “I love and accept myself as I am.” Period. If you find it hard to believe this at first, imagine yourself as a little child who is doing his best and just wants to be loved. Hold that child tightly in your thoughts and feel the love flowing through you.

TAKE TIME FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

Do a little check-in with yourself every day. Take a few quiet minutes to pay attention to your thoughts. What do you think about yourself? Do you have negative thoughts toward yourself? And how are you feeling in general today? The following exercise can then help you feel more self-love: Take a pen and write down all the negative thoughts you have about yourself. Once you’ve done that, cross out those thoughts and replace them with a positive sentence.

DO SOMETHING YOU  LIKE

People you love usually want to do good things for you. The same is true with self-love. Do things you enjoy and enjoy to bring more joy into your life. It’s not about being productive, it’s solely about feeling good. Often we do unlovable things out of habit, a false sense of duty, or because we think others will judge us otherwise. Part of the self-love practice is to seek out these things and, if possible, weed them out.

ANALYZE YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Your view of yourself is rather negative? You’re mainly focused on the things you’re not so good at. Put an end to it. Sure, we should acknowledge our weaknesses and work on them if it makes us and others feel better. But what we can’t forget is to celebrate our strengths and talents.

Every night, think about what you did well today.  You were able to help a friend with some super advice? Did you stand up for yourself? Did you dare to ask for help? Write it down. And remember: no one is perfect!

WHY SELF-LOVE IS SO IMPORTANT

A lack of self-love can take a toll on the psyche and have far-reaching, unforeseen consequences. In addition to fears, self-doubt, and depression, it can also lead to addictions and permanent overload, even burnout. Why? The feeling of not being good enough can result in the false desire to always please others, to ignore one’s own needs, and to go beyond one’s stress limits – to compensate for a perceived deficiency.

Due to our disturbing relationship with ourselves, our relationship with other people also suffers. Those who have little love for themselves and are not convinced of their worth will always be dependent on the approval and evaluation of others. At the same time, the “I’m not good enough” attitude makes it incredibly difficult to accept love from outside. So, there are many reasons to love yourself!
