Lakeland Community Institution was the first college in Ohio to be established by popular vote in 1967. Lakeland fulfills its objective by providing high-quality learning opportunities that address the community’s social and economic needs.

During the 2019-2020 academic year, the college provided 8,735 credit students (unduplicated head count) through day, evening, weekend, and online classes (Source: 2020-2021 IPEDS 12-Month Enrollment).

Credit Courses

Lakeland College, which is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, provides over 135 associate degree and technical certificate programs that lead to high-demand careers or transfer to four-year colleges. Tuition is still one of the most affordable in Ohio.

The Holden University Center in Lakeland was founded in 2011 to give more opportunities for students pursuing higher education ambitions. Bachelor’s and graduate degrees are available from a number of four-year partner colleges through the Holden University Center.

Noncredit Courses

The college offers noncredit workforce and professional development courses throughout the year in addition to credit curriculum. Professionals can earn continuing education units, or CEUs, through noncredit courses to keep their skills and credentials current.
