Thomas Stanley Holland popularly known as Tom Holland is a young British born actor. His superhero role in the Marvel Cinematic Spider – Man has made him predominantly famous and has earned him a spot in Hollywood. Though young, he has been able to do well for himself by bagging prestigious awards like; a British Academy Film Award, three Saturn Awards, a Guinness World Record and an appearance on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list. He has also appeared in a number of high profile American and British award schemes. Other publications have attributed to him as one of the largely known actors of his time.
Early life and Nationality
Young Holland is a British and began school at Donhead Preparatory School, an all-male Catholic and independent day school located in Wimbledon, southwest London. During his school days, Tom displayed massive love for dance; his parents enrolled him in a dance class. As mean as some school kids are, he was bullied by his mates for having a preference to dance.
Tom Holland was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was seven. That was the reason his parents enrolled him and his brothers in a private school in order for him not to feel abandoned but later, this education exhausted the finances his family.
Janet Jackson’s songs were a huge part of Tom when he was growing up and he would regularly dance his feet off to her music. During his teen years, Tom was enrolled in carpentry school in Cardiff, Wales for a short while.
Tom furthered his education at ‘Wimbledon College after completion of school, he graduated from college in the year 2012. After college, he carried on to attend the esteemed and renowned ‘BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, it was from this school that he perfected his passion for the art of dance and acting and also learnt the subtle difference between the two.

Tom commenced his entertainment life at an early stage where at the age of nine he was enrolled in a hip hop class at Nifty Dance School in Wimbledon. In the year 2006, Tom performed with his school group at Richmond Dance group. Choreographer Lynne Page, who was an associate to Peter Darling, Choreographer of Billy Elliot the Musical discovered Tom. He had an audition scheduled for Tom. The musical’s director believed that the young lad had great potential and was a very natural actor.
After his outstanding performance in ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’ on June 28, 2008, his role as the titular on September 8, 2008 made his critics shower praise on him for a great performance as an actor. Tom Holland started making an appearance in television shows and interviews.
After playing the titular role in ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’. One of the news shows of Channel 5 had an interview with Tom’s costar tanner Plueger and in the following year, Tom was cast in the show “The Feel Good Factor”.
In the year 2011, the popular animated fantasy film ’Arriety” was Tom’s film debut where his voice was lent to a character known as Sho. The movie ‘’Impossible’’ was his major breakthrough that came in the year 2012. ‘’The Impossible’’ which starred Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts became very successful and was played at the ‘’Toronto International Film Festival’’. The character Lucas Bennet was played by Tom and he was hugely praised for his acting prowess. Though he could not bag an Oscar with this project, he won significant awards and nominations.
‘’How I live my live’’ is drama film that featured Tom Holland in 2013 and in the short film Moments. In the subsequent year, the British American drama film Locke, Tom lent his voice to this movie which featured Tom Hardy in the lead character.
Tom played a younger version of Thomas Nickerson in the adventure drama film, ‘’In the Heart of The Sea’’ in 2015. And during this same year, Tom took the role as Gregory Cromwell in the British series, ‘’Wolf Hall’’.
In the year 2016 turned out to be a platonic year for Tom Holland as he was starred in major motion pictures, this includes; Captain America, Civil War, The Lost City of Z, A Monster Calls, and the Edge of Winter.
In 2017, the character Peter Parker was reprised by Tom in the Spider Man Homecoming. In the same year, he was starred in movies like; The Current War, Tom played character the well-known American Businessman Samuel Insull and the Pilgrimage; he took the role as Brother Diarmuid.
Tom Holland reprised Spider Man in Marvel’s motion picture Avengers: Infinity War in the year 2018. As he keeps growing from strength to strength and having a number of movies in the pipeline, his paramount dream is to be a Hollywood director.
In the year 2020, Netflix featured Tom Holland in their movie, The Devil All the Time.
