All the Speeches of Alex Before Marriage

Oh, hi.

You’re that new farmer that just moved in here right. Cool. Nice to meet you. I’m Alex. It’s good to finally see a new face in this old sleepy town actually Stardew isn’t that big of a tourist attraction these days. And seeing the same old people every day can make it feel like the time is passing really slowly around here. but yeah. I’m glad somebody moved into that farm plot. I tried using it as my old grid ball field but I kept tripping on all the all the weeds there. But you can put it to better use though.

OH This. Oh, yeah. I’m a big grid Ball fan. It’s sort of my passion. Speaking of here, go long.

Oh, nice try.

Yeah, I probably shouldn’t have thrown it that hard. I forgot I wasn’t on the field for a second.

But yeah, when I played in high school, I took my team all the way to the regional playoffs. Yeah, not too shabby if I don’t say so myself. And now that I’m stuck here for the foreseeable future. I’m just getting stronger and training to land a spot on the upcoming roster for the Zuzu city tunnelers.

Yeah, I’m going to be the greatest player that ever touched a grid ball. You just wait and see.

Wait, you, you believe in me.

Oh, thanks. I’ll remember that.

Anyway, my grandparents are going to want me back for dinner before it gets too late. As much as I would love to stay out here in the beach and toss the ball, getting on my grandpa’s about side isn’t all my to do list for old guy stuck in a wheelchair, he can still chase me down just fine somehow.

See you round farmer. I’d love to hang out with you again sometime, later.

Good boy dusty.

You know, sometimes I feel like you might be the only one around here who understands me.

I don’t think anyone else in this small town has seen the things you and I have homeboy.

Oh, Hey it’s, it’s you.

Well, what’s up.

Wait, did you overhear me talking?

I don’t really like to talk about it. But let me explain. Have you ever wondered why I live with my grandparents, here in this middle of nowhere town?

Well, you see. My father wasn’t a good guy. He ruined everything for me and my mom. one half of the time he was gone to but nobody knows where. And the other half he would stay at home, get drunk and tell me I’m worthless and how will never amount to anything.

I think he just resented me for being young, he wasted his life going nowhere and doing nothing.

So, I guess it just made him bitter, to see me play grid ball and make friends and live a fulfilling life. But that’s just my take on it. Who knows what was really going through his mind? One day he just left. Not a word to me or my mom. Soon after that is when my mom started to get sick.

She.

She passed away. And then I moved in with my grandparents, you.

You just seem like someone I could trust. I don’t know why. I mean, you just you just moved here, but I already feel like you’re someone who cares.

Look, I don’t want too much of your sympathy. If there’s one good thing about my past. It’s that it made me stronger. That’s what’s driving me to become the best athlete I can be and make a name for myself. And, well, I got to meet you. So, silver lining I guess.

Anyway, away from all my sad story. Just watch and see what does to hear will do for full on barbecued steak.

Hey there.

My grandparents didn’t tell me we were having guests.

What am I doing?

Well, I was just looking at all these books in my room.

I haven’t read a single one. But the thought of cracking one open. Kind of makes me nervous. I, I never learned how to read, you know, but I guess you can’t make a decent living in the world without a brain.

I’m worthless.

You don’t think I am. Oh,

Thank you.

Well, I’m not going to give up. I bet if I work hard at it, I’ll get in no time. Hey, and maybe you and I can get dinner one day and talk about Phi– lo – so-phy

Isn’t that what a, what smart people talk about. And I just wanted to say thanks. You know, for dropping by and checking in on me.

It makes me happy Knowing somebody looks forward to being around me. Would it be cool if I dropped by the farm sometime and you and I could throw the grid ball and just hang out?

Really?

Awesome. I guess I’ll just look forward to seeing you now.

Take care.
