Willy is a villager who grew up on the Fern Islands and currently resides on The Beach, south of Pelican Town. In his business, he offers bait and fishing equipment. His store is open every day, but if the weather is great enough for him to go fishing on Saturday, he will close it.

Willy usually gets up about 6:10 a.m. and goes fishing at the beach for a few hours before opening his fish store from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After closing his shop, he’ll frequently go fishing on the beach until around 10:00 p.m. Instead of going to the beach after work during the winter, he’ll head to the saloon. He has an appointment at the clinic on the 9th of Spring.

Willy’s business is closed on Saturdays while he goes fishing, unless it rains, in which case he keeps it open.

Quests

• “To The Beach”: On the 2nd of Spring, Willy will write you a letter inviting you to meet him on the beach south of town. A Bamboo Pole is the gift.
• “Catch a Squid”: On the 2nd of Winter, Willy will write you a letter requesting you to catch and bring him a Squid. The prize is 800g and one Friendship heart.
• “Capture a Lingcod”: On the 13th of Winter, year 2, Willy will write you a letter requesting you to catch and bring him a Lingcod. The prize is 550g and one Friendship heart.
• “Juicy Bugs Wanted!”: Willy can place a Special Order for 100 pieces of Bug Meat to serve as bait. Finishing this quest grants the farmer 3,000g and the Quality Bobber recipe, as well as triggering a cutscene.
• Fishing: At the “Help Wanted” sign outside Pierre’s General Store, Willy may randomly request that you capture a certain quantity of a specific fish from the current season. The prize is three times the value of the fish (per fish). (The fish is yours to keep.)
• Willy may ask you to fetch him a random item from the “Help Wanted” board outside Pierre’s General Store. The prize is three times the item’s base value plus 150 Friendship points.
• If the Community Center isn’t rebuilt and you walk into his store, a sequence plays in which he informs you about his backroom but doesn’t show you what’s within.
• In The Pirate’s Wife quest, Willy will be given the Wriggling Worm.

Details

Willy meets you outside the Fish Shop. He claims he needs your assistance and invites you to get inside. Once inside, you’ll notice that Crabs have taken over the Fish Shop floor. Before you can do anything, Gus enters the Fish Shop and offers to buy all the crabs, less a labor discount. Willy agrees, and Gus gathers the crabs. Gus then turns to you and says he’s going to run a special on Crab Cakes for the next few days (but not to tell Willy). The cutscene concludes with Willy bidding farewell to his “beautiful girls” as they are carried away to be slaughtered and fried.

Gus will sell an infinite number of Crab Cakes at the Saloon for 550g each beginning on the day of the cutscene and lasting three days. Mayor Lewis will say that he smelled crab “all day” the day the event is watched.

Emily is a peasant from Pelican Town. She’s one of the twelve characters that can marry. Her address is 2 Willow Lane, which is located south of the town square, just close to Jodi’s house. She starts working at The Stardrop Saloon about 4:00 p.m. most evenings.

Emily enjoys sewing her own clothes, although fabric can be tough to get in town. Cloth and wool are two of her favorite presents.

Relationships

Emily shares a house with her sister Haley, and the two of them look after their parents while they’re away on a two-year trip across the world. Gus, the owner of the saloon, hires her on a contract basis. Sandy is also a close friend of hers, as seen by the numerous times the two speak about one another. Even before The Calico Desert was made accessible to the player, Sandy claimed to have been aware of the farmer’s arrival, claiming that Emily had written to her about the visitor.

It’s clear from the movie’s language and situations that Clint has feelings for Emily, but he’s afraid to tell her.

Emily is sound sleeping in her room. The screen pans and fades, and you find yourself in Emily’s dream. It’s a dreamscape of abstract shapes and colors, clouds, and palm trees. Emily glides above a purple stone edifice atop a vast cloud. She is floating, meditating, and repeating “power words.” You appear out of the cloud, surprising her. She is curious as to what you are doing in her dream. Rainbow streaks fly by, and she interprets them as a portent or omen. You vanish, and she comes to. She gets out of bed and tells herself that there is something unique about you; she believes that your fates are somehow entwined.

When you have three hearts with Emily, she will give you a recipe in the mail.

Four Hearts

On a sunny day, make your way into town. Cannot be activated in the winter.

Details

On a bright day, Emily leaves her residence. Three parrots fly by, and she waves and calls them “friends.” After a little period, she resumes her trek but abruptly comes to a halt, perplexed. A fourth parrot flies in too low and bangs against her house window. The parrot has been hurt. Emily runs over and cradles the helpless creature, pledging to look after it. Emily’s room will now include a parrot. If you approach the parrot and press the “check” button, it will squawk and hop around.
(If you marry Emily, the parrot will join you in your home.)

Six Hearts

Visit Emily’s house when she’s there.

You will walk into Emily’s chamber. She tells you that she is looking forward to showing you her long-hidden pastime. After that, she’ll put on her stereo and start dancing for you. It will ask you what you think of the performance when the lights and music have turned off. There are three options available to you:

• “That was amazing!” (+25 friendship.)
• “That was embarrassing…” (-50 friendship.)
• (Say nothing and do a slow clap) (+25 friendship.)

This event was previously known as Emily’s four heart event, but in version 1.1, it was renamed. It received a new original song and speech, as well as animation and graphic upgrades, with that update.
